Numbers 25 tells us of the aftermath of Balaam’s failed curses. Instead of issuing oracles against Israel, he suggested they send in women to seduce the men and lead them to idolatry. (Revelation 2:14) In response, every Israelite who strayed was to be killed.
In the sexual revolution of the 60’s in America, rebellious young adults demanded sex without consequences and sought their spiritual encounters with drugs and worship of the creation rather than the creator. They were not punished. They were rewarded with their demands being met. No fault divorce. Abortion. The list goes on. See Romans 1.
We continue to wander the wilderness. Bible study must lead to biblical application or we are like one who looks at himself in the mirror then immediately forgets what he looks like. (James 1:22-25)
