And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:10-11 ESV)
I realize our context is a little bit different roughly 2000 years from the ascension of Jesus, but it seems to me that disciples of Christ, who have been told exactly what we ought to be doing, are gazing up into the sky way too much. They looked foolish then, they look foolish now. We have a mandate from our king. Let’s act like it. We can enjoy the lunar events, but we ought not take them to be eschatological signs.
